Letting go.
Just sit back in your chair/couch/whatever and just think about it. Let go of everything in your life that you are so desperately holding onto. Your knuckles are white with tension and your spirit is so exhausted that you think that if you let go then everything will crumble around you.
You think this because you have been taught that you hold all the power. If you just reach a little higher, work a little harder, sacrifice a little more time that somehow you will make it out on top. Jesus? Well He is just for Sunday. I tithe my 10% and I can go on living my own self-sustained life.
Life is hard enough as it is, yet when you throw all the things that we worry about it begins to seem a bit unbearable. Our strength is depleted, our moral is fading, and we are left in our natural state: small and weak. But that is the exact way that we were created. God in His majesty and might made us so that we could have a relationship with Him, not relationship with; a job, or money, or any other person. We are made to be dependent on the one who is independent. Think about that one: God is completely independent of everything, He needs no oxygen, no food, no time, no anything. He is completely self-sufficient.
Yet He, this immensely beautiful Being who breathes out galaxies is dying for you. In fact He did die for you. On a cross. He opened His security up in the ultimate form of risk. He opened Himself to us, desiring reconciliation after the fall of His greatest creation. He risked His reputation, yet never struck back. He was mocked, He was tried. People like you and I spit in His face.
Jesus knew just what it meant to let go and let God work in His life. In the garden of Gethsemane Jesus didn't want to take on the world's sin, I mean who would want to bear the entire past, present and future sins of the world. And at the same time to give up His life for us! Yet He said: "Let YOUR will be done" (Matthew 26:39) He submitted, He trusted Himself to God's plan, and God worked in His Son's submission to forgive all sins, and now we are free to run to God's salvation.
Letting go of all our aspirations and security is something that is not looked upon in good favor with the world. It isn't easy either. But who said anything about how following God would be easy? I challenge you to look not to yourself for your life story. Look to God who sustains, look to Him who forgives, look to Him who strengthens and loves us so much that He has prepared us a room in His Father's house. Let go of all this pressure, you are meant to have a relationship with God above all. Everything else comes second.
Let go and Let God.
This was such a refreshing post to read..And absolutely true. I know once I let go of everything and gave it all to God, then did I see Him working in my life like never before. It was amazing to see How He works if we just give everything to Him and let Him do His job. We are to put all our trust in Him and He will reveal the plans He has made for us. Thank you for another great post Payton! =)
ReplyDeletePayton, happening upon your comment to my friend Rachel and being the protective mothering type I am came to check up on you ;) Well, I must say you are rather an insightful young man! I was greatly impressed with this particular post, and now intend on reading the others. Sometimes my generation gets so caught up in our day to day responsibilities we need a fresh perspective from the younger generation. Thank you! Mrs. Colleen
