Idols

Everyone struggles with idols. People we want to be like, things we want to have, qualities we all desire. So why are idols so bad? Idols cause people to strive for something other than God and I can tell you one thing: Our God is a jealous God. If God didn't care for us He wouldn't have sent his only Son to die for our sins. So just think: would God be happy with this idol? That answer is a resounding NO! Not to any idol of any kind! So ask yourself this: What are you putting in front of your relationship to God? These kind of hindrances are the kind of things that get in the way with your relationship with God. When we are wondering where God is in our toughest times we should always know that He is there, but as James 4:8 says, "Draw near to God and He WILL draw near to you" (emphasis added) When we put something in front of God then that relationship that He so badly wants is broken and we are consistently doing this in our lives. Idols are things that put us on a rollercoaster of emotions, and they work in a loop, we want-we get-we want- we get- and so on. But that dreary cycle can be broke by only one thing-One person- and He is holding out His hand, waiting for you to trust Him
