Laying It All Down

In our day to day lives, some of us may listen to songs that have such lyrics such as "I'm laying my life at Your feet" for those of us who listen to Christian Rock, we may be forgetful of what this lyric or related lyric is saying. What in your life do you really really define yourself by? Maybe its sports for a lot of people out there or friends or music or drama or any other thing. But when we finally make it to Jesus-or when we acknowledge Jesus' presence with us- we are committing to laying EVERYTHING IN OUR LIFE DOWN and taking up our crosses and made new in His image. Now just think that little phrase over. Lay everything down...everything...imagine if we had to take the deeds to our houses (now for most teens this doesn't apply), but our music, cars, phone, TV, computers, and everything else we see as volleyball, and threw it away to take a heavy burden. But the catch is that this burden has heavenly benefits with a God that will never ever leave us. So what isn't worth to give? Now one of my favorite parables is the one about the man who finds a treasure in a field. Now what do you think this man did to get this treasure? He sold EVERYTHING to get that field, so the treasure would be his. Now we are confronted with the same situation. It is free to receive, but we are asked to take up everything and lay it down, so that we can see the true reason that this faith and Savior is worth everything and so much more about what is to come when we see Jesus face to face.
